Full Moon in Aries = Potential for Explosive Emotions

Okay, so by now everyone knows that the word “lunatic” is a direct reference to the notion that the Full Moon (Luna) can make us crazy. We can see the Moon’s influence on the tides, and given that humans are made up almost entirely of water, it makes sense that she would have a good deal of pull on our bodies and emotions.

Last night’s Full Moon in Aries marks the climax of the current lunation, or moon cycle, which began on 27 September. It also marks the midpoint of the astrological year: the Sun is in fair, relationship-minded Libra and the Moon is pushing hard on the fiery, initiative-driven Aries energy, which right now is all about one’s feelings. Don’t be surprised if someone close to you expresses his or her emotions more explosively than usual.

The energy of a Full or New Moon spills over into the 2 days before and after it, so I encourage you to look at your energy over the past few days and the ones to come to see how you’ve been affected. Full Moons bring our emotions to the surface, especially unconscious ones since the Moon represents the Unconscious mind.

What has bubbled to the surface for you? Use the Illumination of the Full Moon to its max! Do more journaling or meditating than usual to help process the new and enlightening information that is coming to you now, and also send healing thoughts to those who are in pain or fear.

For me, I noted in a previous post that for me this cycle was about travel, philosophy, and higher learning, since it was occurring in my 9th house. My trip to NYC was great, and I am in the middle of putting all of my new ideas into practice right now. In fact, you’ll be seeing a lot of them show up on this site in the next week or two, so stay tuned!

If you’ve been feeling particularly anxious or emotional, take time to get centered throughout the day: take deep breaths, meditate, connect with Source in some way. It only takes  few seconds to get yourself back in shape, and it can save you a lot of hassle and apologizing later on if you blow your top unduly.

Remember that the Moon is affecting those around you as well, so as the more Awakened one, you need to be responsible for keeping your own emotional house in order. The High Road is never the easiest, but it is always the BEST.

A great stone to help you deal with messy emotions is Black Obsidian. While this volcanic glass needs to be energetically cleared frequently, it’s a great protective stone, and it mops up negativity–especially negative emotions–from your surroundings, and is very grounding as well: just the thing for when you’re more likely to fly off the handle.

Snowflake Obsidian

Its sister stone, Snowflake Obsidian, is my recommendation for times like these: the “snowflakes” are where the volcanic glass started to crystalize during the cooling process.

The special property of Snowflake Obsidian is that it brings things that are hidden–hidden patterns, hidden truths, things that might knock you way off your center–to the surface in a gentle rather than a traumatic way, and then cleans up any negative emotions around it! The perfect companion for riding out emotional storms.

Obsidian is a personal stone, so make sure to get one of your own rather than trying to borrow someone else’s, but it’s definitely  an important member of the crystal toolbox!

Do you have some Snowflake Obsidian? Share your experiences with it here to enlighten us all. Leave a comment, too, if you’ve been emotionally blindsided by someone lately due to this Full Moon’s intense energy.

Love, Light, and Gratitude!
