Here at the beginning of Libra–sign of the scales and balance in all things, kicked off by the exact moment of equality between day and night–is the perfect time to be talking about Balance, Equality, and the Divine Feminine.
Lots of people have been talking about the Divine Feminine lately–for the past few years or so–and with reason. There’s a lot more of this energy available now and, more importantly, we as a human community are much more able to receive it, see it, and honor it.
Please note that I’ll be basing my remarks today on information that comes straight from the Akashic Records, both from my own channelings and those done by my friend and mentor whom I recommend whole-heartedly, Jen Eramith of Akashic Transformations.
One crucial thing to know when talking about about the Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine is that these energies are not the exclusive purview of any one gender. Au contraire! Each one of us carries the Divine Masculine and Feminine in us all the time. And we can call on these energies to support us at any given moment.
Another important thing to know before we launch into this discussion has to do with patriarchy, and how it has warped nearly everyone’s ideas of the Divine Masculine and Feminine, precisely because it has co-opted the Masculine and denigrated the Feminine for millenia. It is very clear from the Records that the oppressive system of patriarchy has wounded every human on Earth, not simply women, as is often implied by feminist teachings.
While it is true that the Masculine + Feminine energies are represented in the dualities of up/down, out/in, light/dark (ideas spread by patricarchal forces) the duality of good/bad has nothing to do with this pair!
To get you started thinking about this, here’s a little quiz what the Divine Masculine (DM) and Divine Feminine (DF) represent/embody/express. Remember, we all possess all of these, and none is the exclusive property of one or the other gender. Please track your True or False answers to the following statements, and tally your score below (no fair peeking!):
Courage and strength are energies of the Divine Masculine.
Protection is Divinely Feminine.
Wisdom, intuition, and inner knowing are Divinely Feminine.
All kinds of expression and action are Masculine.
Allowing and surrender are Feminine.
How did you do? Let’s recap: all the expressive and active energies are the Masculine side of you, and those parts of you that where allowing, surrender, wisdom, and intuition occur are Feminine: this is the counterpart to the Masculine activity. We often define the opposite of activity to be passivity, implying that nothing is going on, but if you’ve ever tried to be still to meditate or to allow your Guides or Intuition to speak to you, you know that this is hard work, at least at first! So let’s think of this in terms of outward vs. inward rather than active vs. passive.
Have your ingrained notions of gender kicked in yet? Remember, patricarchy strips men of their essential Femininity and women of their Masculine side–or tries to reduce us to one or the other, anyway. But it’s never true. Patriarchy is based on fear and control, and the Divine Masculine and Feminine are pure Love. Don’t forget that stepping out of the oppressor/victim paradigm to embrace our full selves is the prerequisite to manifesting!
You might also be surprised to know that courage, aka inner strength, is Feminine! Patriarchal culture teaches us that courage and strength are the purview of men, but the Records tell us that this is definitely our Feminine side expressing itself. Everything that is “in” is Feminine and “out” is Masculine. Inner strength, inner knowing, the protective circle are Feminine. Expression, action, and the ever-expanding spiral are Masculine. (I’ll admit that that one caught me by surprise–I had always considered the spiral Feminine!)
Think of them as the receiver and the transmitter: neither one is better and both are essential.
To get back to this essential question of balance: it behooves us to use a mix of Masculine and Feminine energies in everything we do. Balance your expressive energies with receptive ones (talking vs. listening). Use your head and your heart. Go inside to learn essential reflection.
If you’re a parent, or in any kind of relationship, I encourage you to consider you how can use this balance of inward and outward, creation and reflection, transmission and reception to improve your connection with your child, partner, or colleague. Take a minute right now to think of ways you could employ (DM) this new wisdom (DF) today to make your life easier.
And if you’re in business–traditionally the purview of men (that we often conflate with the Masculine)–I encourage you to reflect on how consciously employing the Divine Feminine energies might help you be more successful. You already know that inner strength is necessary if you’re still in business! But surrendering “control” (read: the illusion of control!) and allowing your intuition to guide you are keys to creating a prosperous business that most people either reject or ignore. This has become a “soapbox” issue for me because I want change-agents to thrive and prosper, so that they can utimately make this world a much better place.
